PALM IT FORWARD

Our Impact Locally and Global

Palm It Forward movement which defines itself by the power of kindness through members of the community coming together to share the portion of their blessings, expertise, and resources with the ones in need, and all in spirit of humility, mutual respect, and consideration. Like the the palm of our hands need all the fingers to be the most effective, we all need to come together despite our racial, socio-economic and cultural differences to build a stronger Philadelphia.

Local Impact

Our Champions at Penn

P.S strongly believe that the success of  all children, especially the ones in underserved communities is connected to their exposure to cross-cultural boundaries. Since 2017, P.S has been working with students organizations such as the Penn African Students Association to advocate for a more inclusive students body platform at Penn. Minority students want to feel a higher sense of belonging, because educators and/or students’ racial biases and stereotypes, whether explicit or unconscious, have significant effects on their learning experience . P.S believes that the problem could be tackled in three phases

  • Building Capacity
  • Build Bridges
  • Changing Perspectives

Greater Philadelphia 1st Annual Linguistic and Multicultural Disability Summit

This yearly event is Palms Solutions’ way to promote Equity Diversity and Inclusion(EDI), in our educational system, and  emphasis on the importance of caring more about children with disabilities and special needs because they are among the most vulnerable members of our society.

Our Graduate Salute Celebration

The event was our innovative way to remember and celebrate our graduates despite the ravaging effects of COVID-19 on our constituents.  A “Drive Thru Graduation Celebration” was therefore held in the Monumental Baptist church(MBC)’ parking lot to uplift our beloved students from Pre-K up to the Doctorate level and usher them in the next chapter of their lives. They have been acknowledged and presented with gifts, courtesy of the Higher Ed Ministry and  the God Chosen Youth Ministry at Monumental.  With the great success registered, we have decided to turn the event into an annual one, with the inclusion of our West Philly  community. As such, starting in 2021 forward, the event would be known as  “PALMS COMMUNITY (PAC) DAY”, and include all of our children, regardless of race, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.  Help us prepare 2021 by emailing us at info@palmssolutions.org

Community Reception

  • Palms Solutions has been effective in impacting communities locally and internationally.  From women’s empowerment, to youth’s education  and community capacity building, the organization has been at the forefront.

  • Our latest, and ongoing initiative started in 2019, and led by P.S Communication Director, Mrs. Pittman, was to join forces with Blessings in a Backpack, a national non-profit organization that provides food to students on the weekends.  The program distributes backpacks filled with food to 50 students every week during school years. P.S has also been recognized by the city for its impact on youth’s leadership education, and community capacity building.

  • Our efforts to contribute to the well being of women in the underserved communities of West and South West Philly was rewarded by the appointment of P.S Executive Director as ambassador of Women Campaign International(WCI). In addition, P.S was featured by Well Fargo as one the vibrant community organization in Philadelphia.
